“Happy, merry, holly, jolly, season’s greetings here
I’m wondering what your family does at that time of year?
Love and joy and peace on Earth and tidings of good cheer,
Do you have tradition things
For that time of year?” ~ “That Time of Year,” Olaf’s Frozen Adventure
If I missed a representative symbol for your preferred seasonal holiday, my apologies. (Blame Google for letting me down)
Am I getting a bit of a jump on things here? Maybe (I mean, there is a turkey in the picture).
However, this post is two-fold:
Obviously, I want to make sure I take time out to wish everyone a wonderful holiday. Time with loved ones (those you share DNA with or those you’ve appointed to the title) is always important.
I am FINALLY getting to go on my honeymoon! After three years of delay—brought to us by the friendly SARS-Cov-2 we know so well—everything finally came together, and we were able to book the trip we had to cancel in 2020.
Now, I acknowledge Substack allows you to write and schedule posts days, weeks, and even months ahead of time. So, in theory, I could have my hermit crabs ready to go throughout my vacation.
In theory.
However, my brain doesn’t function days ahead of time. (It barely functions in the moment) And adding “Write Invisible Inks posts” to one of my lists felt suspiciously like needing to make another list. (I already have so many lists, it isn’t funny. There’s even a list of the lists…which made sense at the time I wrote it…)
So—after a lot of agonizing and fretting—I made the decision to take a hiatus. Not simply during the vacation but throughout the holidays. As a kindness to my brain and body (neither of which will have any idea of how to cope with this vacation concept).
I love and appreciate everyone who drops by to read my work. I don’t have enough words to thank you. And I promise to return at the end of December: Refreshed, rejuvenated, and replenished with ideas.
In the meantime, I wish you the best holiday season—whatever that may look like or consist of for you.
Love a hiatus for you. Enjoy your trip!
